Selawik National Wildlife Refuge was established to conserve the Western Arctic caribou herd, waterfowl, shorebirds, other migratory birds, salmon, and sheefish; to fulfill treaty obligations; to provide for continued subsistence uses; and to ensure necessary water quality and quantity.
