For Educators
School Programs – Environmental educators and volunteers teach in the Kodiak schools. Programs are given on many topics: everything from bear education to weather and insects, mammals and soil. Many classrooms travel to the refuge headquarters for special field trips, too.
F.U.N. (Families Understanding Nature) Programs – This program is quite popular with the community of Kodiak. The idea was developed in 1994 and implemented in 1995. Children and their parents move around the visitor center, working at self-paced stations, all corresponding to a main theme. During winter months there are usually two FUN programs per month but during summer months they are conducted on a weekly basis.
Kodiak Summer Science and Salmon Camp
The Alaska Geographic bookstore, located in the visitor center, provides educational materials to purchase.
