Flightseeing is a popular way to view not only the refuge lan ds and its wildlife, but also scout out possible hiking and floating trips as w
ell.
In recent years, only one company, that offers flightseeing trips over the refuge, has received a special use permit to land on refuge lands.
To be authorized, the company must be licensed as an air charter by the Federal Aviation Administration, meet insurance requirements of the State of Alaska, and have a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service special use permit for commercial operations in the Refuge. All the operators are private companies not affiliated with the U.S. government. This information is offered as a public service and does not constitute an endorsement by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
