Visting the Refuge

How to Reach the Refuge

Travel by Air

. . . on regularly scheduled aircraft. All communities near the Alaska Maritime Refuge are accessible through air service from Anchorage. Sitka-bound passengers can also fly from Juneau. Jet service is limited to Nome, Sitka and, in 2004, Adak. Other communities are reached by smaller, propeller planes.

Daily Flights

Unalaska, Nome, Homer, Kodiak, and Sitka have daily flights.

Several Times a Week Only

Flights to other refuge communities including the Pribilofs (St. George and St. Paul Islands) and Adak Island in the Aleutians are scheduled several times a week.

CAUTION: Weather Delays

Please allow flexibility in your travel schedule for weather delays of hours or days, particularly when traveling to the Aleutians or the Pribilof Islands of St. George and St. Paul.
