Waterfowl
Snow Goose
The Snow-Goose Classic is an annual event in Alaska in which people guess the exact time that the Snow Geese will return to the Kenai River Flats, one of the first signs of spring in these parts. Few of these geese will remain in Alaska to breed. Most will continue north and west to Wrangel Island along the northern shore of Russia, or north and east across the North Slope and into Canada. In eastern Canada, Snow Goose populations are becoming very high, causing damage to their breeding ground habitat.
