Canvasback
The unique wedge-shaped head of the Canvasback make it one of the most identifiable of ducks. The striking chestnut-red of the head is visible from quite a distance. This bird breeds in low numbers in all of Alaska's major duck-producing areas, except the north slope, where it is rarely seen. It prefers to nest among the wetlands of Interior Alaska.
