The fisheries program integrates fisheries priorities related to interjurisdictional fisheries, protection of native fish species, and fish passage into Project Planning, Contaminants, Habitat Restoration/Coastal, Tongass Monitoring, and other FWS programs. Activities focus on developing strong Assessment of Fish Blockage. USFWSpartnerships with tribes, Alaska Native corporations, municipalities, State and Federal agencies, and the public. Program priorities include addressing aquatic nuisance species; technical assistance related to fish passage and fish habitat assessments on Federal lands; identification of rare or unsurveyed populations of fish; and technical assistance to a variety of partners.
