The 10 Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils will meet during February and March to review proposed changes to Federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations for 2006-2007. The Federal Subsistence Board will consider the Councils’ recommendations when the Board meets in May. In addition, the Council will receive updates on 2005 Fisheries Resource Monitoring Program projects and discuss current issues affecting subsistence in their regions. The Councils will also review a draft of the Federal Subsistence Management Program’s policy for decisions regarding closures to hunting, trapping and fishing opportunities on Federal public lands and waters in Alaska. This draft is available in the Issues in Depth section of the Federal Subsistence Management Program website at http://alaska.fws.gov/asm/home.html.
