Board
The Federal Subsistence Board is the decision-making body
that oversees the Federal Subsistence Management Program.
It is made up of the regional directors of the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, Bureau of
Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, the U.S. Forest
Service, and a chairman appointed by the Secretaries of
the Interior and Agriculture. (more)

Fisheries Resource
Monitoring Program
The program was established to help provide information
needed for management of subsistence fisheries on Federal
public lands in Alaska. The program funds projects that
address research priorities identified by management agencies
and local users from around the state. (more)

Rural Alaska, USFWS |
Rural Determinations Process Review
The Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) mandates that rural Alaskans be given a priority for subsistence uses of fish and wildlife on Federal public lands. Following a Secretarial review of the Federal Subsistence Management Program, the Secretaries of the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture tasked the Board to review the rural determination process and recommend changes. Secretarial Subsistence Program Review
Following the review of the Federal Subsistence Management program, the Secretaries recommended that the Federal Subsistence Board be expanded to include two public members representing rural subsistence users. On January 27, 2012, the Secretaries announced the appointments of Anthony Christianson of Hydaburg and Charles Brower of Barrow.
