Student Employment Programs Fact Sheet

The Student Career Experience Program

The SCEP is an on-the-job training program related to a student’s academic course of study. Participating students are exposed to public service careers while completing their degree.

Selected students are employed over the course of their academic career for a minimum of 640 hours at two or more Service field stations across Alaska, primarily during the field season which runs from mid May to mid August.

Upon graduation, students then have the opportunity to
be converted to a full-time permanent position. When placing
students we consider geographic preferences and career goals, but we also highly encourage mobility and flexibility in early career employees.

To be eligible for a student program you must be:

A U.S. citizen; at least 16 years of age; enrolled or accepted in a program of study at least half-time at a high schoo, technical school, a two or four-year college or university, or graduate school; and in good cademic standing (GPA above 2.00)

Not eligible? Check out other volunteer, employment and internship opportunities.
